Established in 2005 by the husband and wife team, Thomas Brocker and Alicia Covarrubias, Slanted House Wines is dedicated to making handcrafted, single-vineyard wines that express the specific characteristics of the vineyard in which the fruit was grown. In 2005 they made 120 cases from the Sonoma Valley, one-acre Moresco Vineyard, planted to Syrah. In 2006 the couple made wine from this same vineyard, and also made an additional Syrah from the Dry Stack Vineyard in Bennett Valley.
Winemaker Thomas Brocker works closely with growers who share his passion for producing the best grapes for premium quality wine, believing that the wine is “made” in the vineyard. In the winery, the fruit is simply guided through small lot fermentations. The ultimate goal is to make a varietally correct wine that can be bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Alicia Covarrubias is the director of sales for Slanted House Wines. She is also the vineyard and winery assistant, working side-by-side with Thomas in leafing, cluster-thinning, punching down and, of critical importance, in the tasting process.
Alicia and Thomas hope that the wines they make are true to the vineyards that gave birth to them and that they will be enjoyed with good food and good company.
